Freerunners DemoV4 Update


I've been working away on the main game and got enough changes that affect the Demo that I thought I should put out an update for it! 

The biggest change by far is the introduction of localisation into the game. 


In the character create and the main menu options you can now switch between: English, French, Spanish, Russian and Simplified Chinese! It's a first pass, so some of the translations are probably a little wonky (let me know if you spot anything that doesn't seem right). I already started fixing problems with long words in different languages breaking the UI, but I'll still need to go over it more for future builds!

I also managed to find and fix a bug that's been annoying me for a while, which made me happy. It was only a small thing but for a fraction of a second there used to be a flicker on the character when climbing down onto ledges, where they would be visible in a place they shouldn't be. This was a great one to get as it helps smooth out the gameplay!

Here's a list of the changes that I've been doing that are relevant to the Demo build:

  • Game now localised in English, French, Spanish, Russian and Simplified Chinese
  • New UI in character create and options menu to switch between languages
  • Moved the start position of Teacher Tim in some of the levels to give a better flow to the levels
  • Misc art tweaks and improvements (background art, art in buildings so when you can see in they seem like a real place etc)
  • Misc tweaks to the UI (for example end screen star rating now has a little extra padding)
  • Reworked the pause screen keyboard controls image to hopefully be more clear
  • Fixed character flicker on climbing down onto ledges
  • Fixed bugs where the mouse wouldn't show in certain menus if you were using the controller and switched to mouse and keyboard
  • Fixes to the wrong voices playing with the start and end dialogues
  • Fixed players feet going into floor in the end sequence on chapter01 level 10
  • Fixed bug on chapter01 level 10 where you could see the cinematic version of Tim, in the initial camera pan that was for the cutscene, when he should have been invisible
  • Fixes for misc art problems across a bunch of levels
